Rudolf Hamburger

مهندس معماري ألماني

Rudolf Hamburger was a German architect, primarily known for his work in the Bauhaus style. His career spanned several years, during which he undertook numerous significant commissions. Notably, he spent a considerable amount of time in Shanghai, from 1930 to 1936, where he was actively engaged in his architectural practice. This period marked a significant portion of his professional life, as he worked on various projects that showcased his skills as a Bauhaus-inspired architect.

In addition to his architectural pursuits, Hamburger's life took a complex turn when his wife, Ursula Kuczynski, became involved with Soviet intelligence in 1930. He supported her espionage activities in various practical ways until their divorce in 1939. Following their separation, Hamburger's involvement with Soviet intelligence deepened, as he began to work as a spy on his own account. This marked a significant shift in his life, as he transitioned from being a supportive spouse to an active participant in espionage activities.
