Allee Willis

Allee Willis was a renowned American songwriter, born in 1947, who left an indelible mark on the music industry. Her impressive repertoire includes co-writing iconic hits such as "September" and "Boogie Wonderland" for Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" for Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield. With a career spanning multiple decades, Willis's compositions have been incredibly successful, with record sales exceeding 60 million copies worldwide.

Throughout her illustrious career, Willis garnered numerous prestigious awards and nominations. She won two Grammy Awards for her work on Beverly Hills Cop and The Color Purple, the latter of which also earned a Tony Award nomination. Additionally, she received an Emmy Award nomination for "I'll Be There for You", the theme song for the popular sitcom Friends. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to songwriting, Willis was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018. Following her passing in 2019, she was posthumously inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2024, further solidifying her legacy as a talented and influential songwriter.
