Yona Yahav

Yona Yahav is a seasoned Israeli lawyer and politician, born in 1944. His career in politics has been marked by significant roles, including his tenure as a member of the Knesset, where he represented the Labor party from 1996 to 1999. This experience laid the groundwork for his future endeavors in public service.

Yahav's most notable position has been as the mayor of Haifa, a role he has held on two separate occasions. Initially, he served as mayor from 2003 until 2018, when he was succeeded by Einat Kalisch-Rotem. However, in 2024, Yahav made a successful return to the mayoral office, winning the election against David Etzioni. With his re-election in 2024, Yahav resumed his duties as the mayor of Haifa, bringing his experience and expertise back to the position.
