Washington Bartlett

سياسي أمريكي

Washington Bartlett was a prominent American politician who held significant public offices in California. His career in politics led him to serve as the 20th mayor of San Francisco, a position he held from 1883 to 1887. During his tenure, he gained experience and recognition that would later propel him to higher office.

Bartlett's most notable achievement came when he was elected as the 16th governor of California, taking office in January 1887. Unfortunately, his time in this position was cut short due to his death in September of the same year. Notably, he made history by becoming the first Jewish governor of any U.S. state and remains the only Jewish governor of California to date. His legacy is marked by this significant milestone in American political history.
