He went on to become a prominent figure in the field of literature, specializing in German language and literature.

Plant's academic career spanned several decades, with a notable tenure as a professor at the City College of New York from 1947 to 1973. In addition to his teaching, he was a prolific writer, penning a range of fictional and non-fictional works. One of his most notable publications was "The Pink Triangle: The Nazi War Against Homosexuals," released in 1986. Plant also explored his creative side through an opera scenario, showcasing his versatility as a writer. He passed away in 1998, leaving behind a legacy as a scholar and author who made significant contributions to the field of literature.
