Moshe Levinger

Moshe Levinger was a prominent Israeli Religious Zionist activist and Orthodox Rabbi. Born in 1935, he played a key role in the movement to establish Jewish settlements in the territories occupied by Israel following the 1967 Six-Day War. His efforts began to take shape in 1967, and by 1968, he had led the Jewish settlement in Hebron, a move that would become a hallmark of his activism.

Levinger's influence extended to the founding of Gush Emunim in 1974, a settler movement in which he became a legendary figure. However, his activism was also marked by controversy, including reported involvement in violent acts against Palestinians. Throughout his life, Levinger remained a significant figure in Israeli politics, particularly within the context of the settlement movement. He passed away in 2015, leaving behind a complex legacy that reflects both his commitment to Religious Zionism and the contentious nature of his actions.
