Leo Rosner

Leopold Rosner, known as Leo Rosner, was a Polish-born Australian musician of Jewish descent. His life took a dramatic turn during World War II, when he survived the Holocaust by utilizing his musical talents to play for Nazi officials in concentration camps. This unique circumstance led to his encounter with Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist who would ultimately save his life.

Rosner's story gained international recognition after being featured in Thomas Keneally's 1982 novel, Schindler's Ark, which was later adapted into the acclaimed film Schindler's List by Steven Spielberg. The film's success brought Rosner's experiences to a wider audience, and he even appeared in the film's epilogue, visiting Schindler's grave on Mount Zion. Through his remarkable story, Rosner's legacy as a musician and a survivor of the Holocaust has been preserved, serving as a testament to the power of resilience and the human spirit.
