American fashion designer and entertainer (1922–2024)

Juli Lynne Charlot was a multifaceted American artist who excelled in various fields, including music, film, and fashion design. Born in 1922, she initially gained recognition as a singer and actress, making appearances in several films and sharing the stage with notable performers such as the Marx Brothers. Her early career in the entertainment industry laid the foundation for her future creative pursuits.

As a fashion designer, Charlot made significant contributions, notably creating the iconic poodle skirt in 1947 and designing circle skirts that became popular during her time. Her artistic expression continued to evolve as she drew inspiration from Mexican culture, leading to the creation of innovative variations of traditional Mexican dresses. This fascination with Mexican design ultimately prompted her to establish a manufacturing plant in Mexico City, where she produced and sold her unique designs until her passing in 2024.
