Di Chaliastre

Jewish avant-garde literary and artistic group

Di Chaliastre was a Jewish avant-garde literary and artistic collective that emerged in Warsaw, operating from 1919 to 1924. During this period, the group's members, who were primarily poets, developed a distinctive expressionist-futuristic style that characterized their work. As a key aspect of their creative output, they wrote exclusively in Yiddish, reflecting their cultural heritage and linguistic roots.

The group's literary endeavors were complemented by the publication of a magazine that shared the same name, Di Chaliastre. This magazine served as a platform for the poets to showcase their innovative and experimental writing, allowing them to reach a wider audience and contribute to the vibrant literary landscape of Warsaw during the early 20th century. Through their unique blend of artistic expression and linguistic identity, Di Chaliastre left a notable mark on the Jewish literary scene of their time.
