Deena Metzger

Deena Metzger is a multifaceted American writer, healer, and teacher, born in 1936. Her literary contributions encompass a range of genres, including novels, poetry, non-fiction, and plays. As a creative writing teacher and feminist scholar, Metzger has had a profound impact on the development of feminist thought and literary expression.

Throughout her career, Metzger has held various academic and editorial positions. She was a member of the Critical Studies faculty at the California Institute of the Arts and taught English at Los Angeles Valley College. Additionally, she was on the faculty of the Feminist Studio Worship and founded the writing program at the Woman's Building in Los Angeles. Metzger also served as a contributing editor to Chrysalis: A Magazine of Women's Culture, which was published from 1977 to 1980 at the Woman's Building, further solidifying her commitment to promoting women's culture and literary expression.
