Her performances were highly acclaimed, particularly in the hippodrama Mazeppa, a production that showcased her daring and innovative style.
Menken's career spanned several years, with notable performances in New York, San Francisco, London, and Paris, between 1864 and 1866. Following a brief return to the United States, she resumed her European engagements. However, her life was cut short when she fell ill, and she passed away in Paris at the age of 33, in 1868, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and pioneering figure in the world of literature and performance.
